How Odisha sets minimum wages

Governing law

Code on Wages, 2019, in force from 21 November 2025. The rates below come from the Labour Commissioner's notification dated 1 May 2026, effective 1 April 2026.

Employment covered

Shops and establishments

Revision cycle

1 April and 1 October each year

Odisha fixes wages per day and the monthly figures above are the daily basic and daily VDA multiplied by 26. The basic rates rise in even steps of ₹50 a day per category, and the VDA is ₹10 a day across the board, because the basic rates were reset in the last full revision and the allowance has restarted from that base. One table covers shops and most other scheduled employments. Odisha repealed its professional tax from 1 April 2026, so there is no PT deduction to net off the minimum wage in this state; payroll deductions run to provident fund, ESI and TDS.
