How Maharashtra sets minimum wages

Governing law

Code on Wages, 2019, in force from 21 November 2025. The rates below come from the Commissioner of Labour's notification dated 5 August 2026, issued after the Code commenced.

Revision cycle

1 January and 1 July each year

Maharashtra notifies around sixty scheduled employments, each with its own rate table. The figures here cover shops and establishments only; manufacturing, construction, security services and hospitality are notified separately and generally cost more. House rent allowance of five percent is payable on top of these figures for establishments covered by the state's HRA rules, and is not included in the totals shown. The special allowance of ₹4,134 is the same across all zones and skill categories, so revisions move every rate by the same absolute amount rather than proportionally.
