How Goa sets minimum wages

Revision cycle

1 April and 1 October each year

Goa fixes wages per day and the monthly figures here are the daily rates multiplied by 26. The variable dearness allowance is ₹149 a day, the same for every category and both zones, which is ₹3,874 a month. Goa has no highly skilled category for shops; clerical staff are paid at the skilled rate. The zone gap is small, ₹5 a day, but Zone A reaches beyond the towns: any establishment inside a Goa IDC or EDC industrial estate is Zone A regardless of where the estate sits. Goa's shop rates are among the highest in the country, above Maharashtra and only a little behind Delhi, because the basic rates were reset upward in the August 2023 revision and the VDA has climbed since.
