Rates cover shops and establishments only. Other employments notified in Meghalaya carry their own notified rates, which are usually higher. Verify against the state notification before running payroll.

Code on Wages, 2019, in force from 21 November 2025. The rates below come from the Labour Department's notification of 1 May 2026 revising minimum wages and VDA for 29 scheduled employments, effective 1 April 2026.

Meghalaya fixes wages per day, and the monthly figures above are the daily basic and daily VDA each multiplied by 26. The daily VDA is small, ₹30 to ₹37, because the basic rates were reset in the last full revision and the allowance has restarted from that base. Meghalaya's shop rates are the highest in the north-east and above most large states, with unskilled work at ₹555 a day against ₹436 in Bihar and ₹478 in Madhya Pradesh. The same notification covers 29 employments including agriculture, construction, hotels, security and domestic work, and the shop rates apply to most service establishments. The state moved to a twice-yearly VDA cycle with this revision.
