Telangana's holiday calendar looks similar to Andhra Pradesh's at first glance, both being Telugu-speaking states sharing Ugadi, Sankranti and Vinayaka Chavithi, but it carries two dates that exist nowhere else: Telangana Formation Day and Bonalu. Hyderabad's workforce composition also shapes how the calendar is used in practice. The city has a large Muslim population and the Islamic holidays of Ramzan, Bakrid, Muharram and Milad-un-Nabi are observed at a scale that makes them full commercial closures rather than nominal ones, particularly in the Old City. Telangana-Specific Holidays

Telangana Formation Day on Tuesday, June 2 marks the state's separation from Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
