Professional Tax in Haryana
Haryana does not levy professional tax on salaried employees or professionals. Here's what applies to payroll compliance instead.
Updated: 01 August 2026Why Haryana Has No Professional Tax
Haryana does not levy professional tax. Gurugram-based employers handle PF, ESI, and TDS as usual, along with the Haryana Shops & Establishments Act, but skip PT filing entirely.
What Applies Instead
Provident Fund (PF)
12% employer + 12% employee contribution to EPFO, the same structure as the rest of India.
Employee State Insurance (ESI)
4% combined contribution for employees up to the ₹21,000/month wage ceiling, applied uniformly to Gurugram and every other Haryana city.
TDS on Salaries
Deducted per the employee's applicable income tax slab, independent of the state's PT status.
Haryana Shops & Establishments Act
Governs working hours, weekly offs, and registration for Gurugram and other Haryana establishments.
Haryana does levy the Labour Welfare Fund separately from Professional Tax. See Haryana LWF contribution rates.
